Without doubt BOSS's most popular compact effect, the DS-1 has been the One Pedal To Rule Them All since it's inception in 1978. From it's distinctive orange box form to it's abrasive clipping and gain structure, the DS-1 is an undisputed classic. BOSS switches things up with this 'X-rated' upgrade, delivering a wholly upgraded sound and playing experience.

This DS-1X achieves something very interesting: it uses MDP (Multiple-Dimensional Processing) technology to asses your performance and tailor your distortion accordingly. For example, your higher notes on the E, B and G strings may have more drive and singing sustain whilst the lower strings may have a little less saturation but more attack for tight riffing. It's an exceptional piece of design and all we can say is that it's pretty spooky how well it works! Picking dynamics play a big part too so if you are a precision player, you'll really notice the difference. With high gain settings and a low noise floor, the DS-1X could be the most important pedal on your board.
